Bespoke & made to order — no two the same

Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 8 October 2026

1. About these terms

These terms apply when you use giftsofkent.co.uk (the "website") and when you order a bespoke piece from Gifts of Kent, run by Jessica Mellor in Kent, England. Contact: jessica@giftsofkent.co.uk. By using the website or placing an enquiry, you agree to these terms. Your statutory rights as a consumer under English law are never affected by anything here.

2. How ordering works — no online payment

Nothing on this website is an offer to sell. Everything shown is bespoke and made to order; no items are held in stock. When you send an enquiry (through the contact form or your basket), that is an invitation to discuss a piece. A contract is only formed when we have agreed the design, size, materials, price and timing with you directly, and you ask us to go ahead.

We do not take payment on this website and we never see your card details. Payment is arranged with you personally once your order is agreed, and no work on your piece begins until payment is settled.

3. Prices

Prices shown are in pounds sterling and are a guide for pieces of that type and size. Because every piece is one of a kind, we confirm the exact price with you during the design chat, before any making begins. You will never be charged a price you have not agreed.

4. Bespoke, one-of-a-kind pieces

Every item is handmade from natural materials — greenery, driftwood, stone, sea glass, hessian and the like — so no two pieces are ever identical. Photographs on this website are a faithful guide to style, colour and character, but your piece will have its own natural variations. These variations are the nature of handmade goods, not faults.

5. Cancellation and returns

Because each piece is made to your personal specification, bespoke and personalised items are exempt from the 14-day cancellation right that applies to ordinary online purchases under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. We will always show you the design before making begins, so you have agreed exactly what you are commissioning.

If your piece arrives damaged, or is not as we agreed, you are fully protected by the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Tell us within a reasonable time with a photograph and we will repair, replace or refund as appropriate — your statutory rights are unaffected.

6. Delivery

Where delivery is arranged, we dispatch well-packaged pieces to the address you give us. Risk passes to you on delivery. If a piece is lost or damaged in transit, tell us and we will sort it out with the carrier. Any delivery date we give is an estimate — handmade work takes the time it takes, and we will keep you informed.

7. Website disclaimer — information and availability

The website is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. While we take care over the content, we do not promise that the website will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free, or that the information shown (including prices, dates and product details) is complete or up to date at every moment. Nothing on this website constitutes professional advice.

Where the website links to other websites (for example our Facebook page), those sites are not under our control and we are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.

8. Website security

We take the security of this website seriously: all traffic is encrypted, the site is hosted on a professionally managed platform, and we review its security settings regularly and apply updates promptly. We use reasonable endeavours to protect the site against viruses, unauthorised access and cyber attack. However, no website connected to the internet can be guaranteed completely secure, and (so far as the law allows) we cannot accept liability for losses caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including attacks on the website by third parties. If you ever notice anything suspicious on the site, please tell us straight away at jessica@giftsofkent.co.uk.

9. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Otherwise, and so far as the law allows, our liability to you in connection with the website is limited to the value of the order concerned, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses (such as loss of profit or enjoyment) arising from use of the website itself.

10. Personal use

Photographs and text on this website belong to Gifts of Kent. You are welcome to share links to our pages; please ask before reproducing our photographs or copying our product designs or wording.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you have a problem with an order, please contact us first — we will always try to put things right. Nothing here affects your right to take a dispute to court, and consumers in the UK may also use alternative dispute resolution where available.
